Ryan Colby
Ryan Colby was born and raised in the Alexandria VA area. Ryan started playing tennis at a young age and never looked back! He attended Laurel Springs High School where he was JTCC's Men's College Connect Champion in 2019, claimed the 18s National UTR Clay Court title and UTR doubles championship in 2020, and also won the 18s National Clay Championship in 2021. He was USTA's No. 1 player for 18s, and entered USC as Virginia's top player and ranked No. 49 in the ITF World Rankings.
He started his collegiate career at the University of Southern California where he went 20-6 overall in singles and 19-5 in duel matches. He clinched a team high 7 matches including the Pac-12 semifinal against Stanford where he was able to earn an All Pac-12 Honorable Mention. His sophomore year he went 10-9 in singles matches and 7-6 mark in dual matches.
Ryan transferred to Georgia for the 23-24 season for his junior year where he was the recipient of the L. Hill Griffin Athletic Scholarship, advanced to the main draw quarterfinals at the ITA Southeast Regionals, won the Longhorn Invitational Championship beating three ranked players, including a new career best win against the No. 17 player from Texas and a three set win against the No. 22 player from USC. Ryan also won red draw doubles title at the 55th annual Southern Intercollegiate Championship, plays on the No. 2 doubles court, and has defeated nine ranked opponents in singles this year, good for third most in the SEC.
Ryan's success continued into his senior year where he recorded eighth career match-clinching win, earned his highest ranked singles win over the No. 7 ranked player, won the consolation singles draw at the ITA South Sectional hosted by Florida State University, and went 2-2 in singles play where he reached the round of 16 on the main draw consolation stage at the 2024 ITA All-American Championships.
